If it is only a translation (word of man) , Why do christians consider it holy?
Thank you.|||Actually, it's a translation of a translation. Much of the "English" bible was translated from the Latin Vulgate used by the catholic church for centuries which was itself a translation from the original Greek and Hebrew/Aramaic sources. The more original source material we find and the more unbiased the scholars studying them, the more apparent it becomes that there are both inadvertent and sometimes deliberate mistranslations scattered throughout the text. Not to mention outright forgeries such as 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus, epistles written centuries after Paul's death and "teaching" a whole different (and more misogynist) theology.
The bible is definitely the word of man from the gitgo and then gets tinkered with as we go to suit the prevailing theology.
Blessings on your Journey!|||The ancient manuscripts haven't changed. There are a few approaches to translation including formal equivalence and dynamic equivalence. Most translations have teams of scholars from a variety of backgrounds who check each others' work to mitigate either deliberate or inadvertent theological bias. One exception to that which comes to mind is Watchtower's (whose followers are known as Jehovah's Witnesses) New World Translation (NWT) which is a deliberate, systematic alteration of scripture for the purpose of adapting scripture to suit a theology (rather than the other way around). But, even from the point of view of scholarship, most modern translations of the scripture are great achievements and reliably reflect scripture from its original languages.
Most translations are open about who the translators are and their credentials. For example:
English Standard Version (ESV) translation team:

As for the differences in translations, a starting point would be to research formal and dynamic equivalence translation approaches.
Is a translation of the ancient manuscripts supported by scripture? Consider the day of Pentecost from the Bible in which the apostles were gifted by the Holy Spirit to deliver the Gospel to foreigners in their own languages. The English translations are holy because they are the word of God pointing the way to God, to a restored relationship with Him, and salvation.
I hope this helps.
Peace be with you.|||Bible was translated in many different language, but the original bible was written in Hebrew and Greek. When there is doubt over the translated meaning, bible scholars and readers can always refer back to the original language.
Bible was written by anointed people with the inspiration from Holy Spirit. It was so consistent, that although it was written at different times by different writers, but the chapters from beginning to end agree with one another, and the prophecies became true, as if Bible was written precisely at the same time for the events to be so related in agreement and consistency.
Study it, and you will find it so amazing with wisdom , knowledge and revelations.
Shalom,|||What English Bible? :)
The original inspired writings are Hebrew, Greek and some Aramaic I think.
There are many translations of these and there are many manuscripts of in the original language that one can study along with the different translations to resolve any sort of differences.
There is nothing in any of the popular English translations that changes the Gospel or what one needs to know to obey the Gospel and follow Jesus Christ.
Repent, Confess Jesus is come in the flesh and is the Son of God and your Lord and Savior, be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and live a humble, repentant life and be in Heaven with the Father when your life is over.
Simple|||Edward's answer annoys me because it is so ignorant assuming that translations have been compounded upon each other, that and must have never payed attention in english class, AND apparently has no clue how hard it it to translate something so complicated across radically different languages
that being said the asker has a valid point that I will have to think about|||It's been translated so many times that it's no longer the same, so you hit the nail on the head: why do christians consider it holy? Because with out their holy book their religion has no basis. Well actualy even with the book, it has no basis... But that's beside the point.|||The Word of God is a living thing, that stands by itself, without the support of words. Words are merely symbols to represent the living realities behind the words.
I could speak to you of hell and eternal torment; but these are just words - but not to those who know its reality - and these are without number.
There is such a thing as eternal salvation; and it can be known and possessed in the souls of those who hear the word of God, and take it for what it is - not the words of men, but the eternal unchanging words of a Living Creator God.
I never heard the phrase "born again". But one day, greatly to my surprise, I became born again. I did not know until I read this word in the Bible:
"Jesus replied, 鈥淰ery truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."
John 3:3
Then I knew and understood, I had that reality which was framed by these words of Jesus.
never settle for words.
" For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power. '
I Corinthians 4:20
The Kingdom of God is at hand - within reach.

Included in these incorrect translations are words that should never have been included in Scripture, like unicorns, easter, cross, faith, grace. Names like jesus, mary, james, john, peter and paul are also mis-transliterations. Interestingly, King James' mother was Mary, Queen of Scots. Hmmm...
If you check in the Strong's Concordance, it shows that those words should have been translated wild ox, Passover, stake, confidence or conviction, wellness or benevolence, YAHUSHA, Miriyam, Yaaqob, YAHUkhanan, Kephar, and Paulus.
This is the hour for the Restoration of ALL, so a corrected translation is coming forth.
Only YAHU Answers! Only YAHUSHA delivers! YAHUEH'S love and blessings, always... HalleluYAH!!!|||Just because it is translated by thousands of people woking together for hours and hours doesnt mean it is not Holy.|||The same reason Charles Manson is crazy of the batsh'it variety in every language|||There is a really good book called "The Answer Book" by Samuel Gipp that might be helpful.|||It's the words of men. Translated by other men. God had nothing to do with it.
