My sister and I want to get tattoos in Elvish. The actual writing. Where can I find a place to design that?

We have looked all over the net for a word translator that will help us find the phrases "big sister" and "little sister" in Elvish (the LOTR translation) Any suggestions?|||Depending on the Elvish language a dictionary alone may not be enough to translate properly. You have to know a bit about the grammar, too.

In Tolkien's Quenya:

big sister - h枚a n茅sa

little sister - pitya n茅sa

For the script (I assume with "The actual writing" you mean that you want the tattoos in Tengwar) I suggest you use this transcriber:

Just choose the according language (English, Quenya or Sindarin (Classic)), and use PNG as output format (or install (one of) the required fonts).

If you want a font that looks like the one ring font, I recommend downloading Tengwar Annatar, and use it in Italic (use the "Tengwar" output format and apply the font in Word (e.g.)). This one and other fonts can be found here: http://www.acondia.com/fonts/tengwar/ind鈥?/a>

Please note that the transcriber does not write the e in "little" silent, as it would normally be. This is not a mistake, but it would ease the reading. You can modify the result in a text program like word if you care.

Btw, for a tattoo I always recommend using the English words written in Tengwar, since translations can be off, simply because none of Tolkien's languages is complete (and Tolkien had a habit of changing words again and again which makes it even more complicate).

(For example, see the Sindarin translation above where I had to use tall instead of big because a word for big does not exist.)
