The question has come up in a genealogy group and I tried to find a translation for them no luck.
if any ones has a subscription to a romain word translator or knows the word.. Thanks I'd like to help this person out.
I tried all the sites I could on the web..all the free sites only kept kicking back romainain to english word never translate it.
Not a 100% that this was the correct spelling but it is what the person who saw the actual document spelled it.

The borders of present-day Romania have not always been what they are now, and the country has had many speakers of both German and Yiddish for quite a long time. If the "s" has a little squiggle like an upside-down question mark it is a Romanian representation of what is written in English as "sh" or "sch".
"Schneid" in German or Yiddish alludes to cutting, scissors, etc., and consequently tailor/seamstress, as the answer above says.
In any case, my hunch is that searching in a Yiddish- or German- speaking context will help.|||it's probably a tailor or seamstress.
